Carnfield Hall is a country house dating from the 15th and 16th Centuries, standing in its ancient deer park and surrounding wood. The first documentary evidence of the site dates back to the early 1300s but the name may have its origins earlier still in a Norse word meaning ‘an old woman’s clearing’. The house recently featured on the Channel 4 programme Country House Rescue.
