Abercamlais is the westerly of the two 'mansion' houses set in parkland just within the northern boundary of the Brecon Beacons National Park. It is a splendid Grade 1 listed building, originally dating from the middle ages, but altered extensively early in the early 18th Century with additions in Victorian times. It is set in extensive grounds, sheltered from the prevailing winds by mature beech and oak trees. The unusual octagonal dovecot in the grounds also serves as a bridge over the river Camlais, the lower storey of which was at one time used as a privy.
The converted laundry and dairy set within the grounds, now named Dovecot Cottage, is available for hire and sleeps 8.A tennis court and Fishing (in season) are available and there are many local attractions and places to visit.
